Both of our McKinney builds are infill on established streets, and that is the hardest version of custom home building. The elevation has to sit comfortably among houses that were finished decades ago while still reading as new construction, the lot is usually narrower than you'd like, and everything happens in front of neighbours who have watched the street for thirty years.
Washington Street went two-story white board-and-batten with a timber-braced gable, under mature trees. Jefferson went the other direction — a single story in dark siding with a stained timber truss in the front gable and black accent walls carried indoors. Different answers to the same problem, which is what custom actually means.
